Local families enjoyed a fun-filled night of raffles, scavenger hunts and more

Philadelphia, PA — Health Partners Plans (HPP), an innovative managed care organization known for addressing social barriers to health, partnered with the Lehigh Valley Zoo to hold a family-friendly community event. This night of exercise and education was HPP’s first event at the Lehigh Valley Zoo and was an opportunity for local families to meet HPP representatives.

This event included scavenger hunts, raffles and other fun activities as participants walked through the zoo and learned about the animals. Families were given free backpacks, notebooks, folders and other school supplies. The event was free for HPP members. Non-members paid an entrance fee, and all proceeds went to the Health Partners Foundation to support local education initiatives.

“As we expand into new geographic regions, we’re also expanding on our commitment to our mission: to build healthier lives and stronger communities in all counties throughout the Commonwealth,” said HPP President and CEO Denise Napier. “Improving the lives of our members expands far beyond our health offerings – it includes events like these in our new service areas, which encourage better health and educational outcomes for our members and our community.”

HPP recently announced plans for the statewide expansion of its award-winning Health Partners Medicaid plan throughout the entire Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This new expansion includes all five zones of Pennsylvania’s Medical Assistance Program for the HealthChoices Physical Health Plans, effective September 1, 2022. Health Partners’ Medicaid plan is now available in Lehigh and Northampton counties.

Research shows that having access to the right school supplies helps students feel prepared and confident in their ability to function in the classroom.
