We are contacting you today to inform you of a revised policy available in our Jefferson Health Plans Policy Bulletin Library. Effective August 15, 2023, Jefferson Health Plans will be implementing a revised claim payment policy: RB.001.C Ambulance Ground Mileage.

In accordance with DHS guidelines, A0998 (Ambulance response and treatment, no transport) is now eligible for payment according to the terms of your provider contract with Jefferson Health Plans, when billed with other services on the claim. Please note that those other services will not be separately reimbursable, payment will only be allowed for A0998.

As a reminder, Jefferson Health Plans’ medical policy bulletins define medical necessity criteria and coverage positions on topics such as medical services, procedures, DME, therapies, etc., while our claim payment policy bulletins provide reimbursement rules and billing guidelines necessary to ensure timely and appropriate payment.
