Oral Health Resources for Primary Care
Jefferson Health Plans encourages participating PCPs to discuss the importance of oral health with their patients. Because tooth decay is among the most common health conditions of childhood, PCPs should talk with their patients and caregivers about daily dental health practices, including brushing, flossing and using a fluoride rinse.
Jefferson Health Plans has compiled information for providers on a variety of dentistry topics, including:
- Pediatric Oral Health Guidelines
- A Child's First Dental Visit
- Dental Pain
- Dental Sealants
- Teledentistry
- Diabetes and Oral Health
- Topical Fluoride Treatments
- Fluoride Supplements and Drinking Water
- Vaping and E-Cigarettes
- Pregnancy and Oral Health
- Oral Health Risk Factors for Children Developmental Disabilities
Oral Health Initiative
The Oral Health Initiative is a comprehensive dental quality improvement strategy that encompasses the different programs that our Plan has developed to improve our dental quality measures. The Dental Preventative Pay for Performance program is a component of our Oral Health Initiative. In partnership with Avesis, Jefferson Health Plans’ dental benefits vendor, dental providers have the opportunity to earn incentive dollars, to promote regular dental visits and increase preventive services for our pediatric and adult membership.
